Broken Mirror Games, a curated horror imprint of Bloober Team, revealed a behind the scenes video interview with legendary polish composer Jan Borysewicz, an artist behind mesmerizing soundtrack for upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive - ONYX: The Dark Grip.
In “The Music of ONYX: The Dark Grip - Working with an Icon,” Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno and composer Jan Borysewicz share how the game’s soundtrack came to life. The video showcases the process of creating the soundtrack for ONYX: The Dark Grip, which was produced in collaboration with FILMharmonic Orchestra, Prague®, offering a unique behind-the-scenes insight into the making of the soundtrack. ONYX: The Dark Grip was announced earlier in September during the Nintendo Direct showcase and is exclusively heading towards the Nintendo Switch 2 platform next year, launching in 2027.
At the same time a biographical drama about the life and career of Borysewicz will be released globally on Netflix streaming platform on October 7th. The film has been directed by Kristoffer Rus and shines more light on this legendary artist’s path to success to the global audience.
“I didn’t approach this game as a pure horror title. My focus was more on evoking a sense of unease through the music, but paired with elements of hope.”
- Jan Borysewicz
“Horror is such a distinct genre that I consider music to be one of its most vital elements. That’s why we always try to work with the best, which resulted in our collaboration with Jan.”
- Piotr Babieno, CEO, Bloober Team
ONYX: The Dark Grip combines dark storytelling, atmospheric exploration, combat and survival with a tactile approach to interaction created specifically for Nintendo Switch 2.
Designed exclusively around handheld play, ONYX: The Dark Grip treats the Nintendo Switch 2 not simply as a screen and controller, but as a physical window into another world. Players can touch the screen to manipulate objects in the game world, tilt the system to unleash the power of the God, or even blow into the microphone to breathe warmth into The Vessel before he is claimed by the merciless cold.
Many more unexpected interactions with Nintendo Switch 2 hardware await players in the full game. By building ONYX: The Dark Grip from the ground up around handheld mode, Broken Mirror Games aims to create an experience where the boundary between the player and the game world becomes thinner and where holding the console means quite literally holding someone's fate in your hands.
ONYX: The Dark Grip will launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. Assets for ONYX: The Dark Grip can be found here.
