Following its first phase of playtesting, which welcomed more than 4,000 players into the initial Alpha, SAW: Genesis showcased its asymmetric multiplayer horror experience at gamescom 2026 in Cologne. Selected media and industry guests got hands-on with the game, while gamescom attendees were invited to step into the world of SAW: Genesis through a dedicated activation featuring a themed experience with SAW-inspired traps and challenges.
In collaboration with Lionsgate, SAW: Genesis marks the first asymmetric multiplayer horror experience from Bloober Team, Anshar Studios and Broken Mirror Games. Set in the aftermath of World War I, the game pits three Accused against a single Judge in intense 3v1 matches across procedurally generated maps, combining deadly traps, teamwork and impossible moral choices. Grounded in the logic of the SAW franchise, the game offers a new perspective on the series' universe, allowing players to step into the role of the Judge, who must challenge their will to live, or the Accused, who must survive the trials set before them. Players can experience both sides of this unnerving confrontation in intense matches where cooperation, strategy, and survival are key.
From Alpha to Gamescom
For the first phase of the Alpha playtest, the developers carefully selected 4,000 players with thousands more waiting for their chance to play, demonstrating strong community interest in both the game's multiplayer concept and content based on the SAW franchise. The first phase of testing provided the development teams with valuable player feedback, helping them evaluate multiplayer balance and technical performance, refine core mechanics and further develop the game's meta for a more engaging and replayable experience.

At gamescom 2026, media and creators had the opportunity to experience SAW: Genesis firsthand, stepping into the role of an Accused, getting a 15-minute taste of the game's intense asymmetric gameplay, and speaking with the development team.
The B2C activation brought the world of SAW: Genesis to life through a themed experience with surprises inspired by the game. Fans could take photos with Bette the Puppet, a handmade doll from the game who delivers the Judge’s instructions to the Accused from afar, supporting the trails without giving away her creator’s location. Visitors could also interact with character performers portraying the Doctor and the Old Hand, from the game, and step inside a specially constructed Head Crusher Trap for a photo opportunity. They could also sign up for the next Alpha playtest to help shape the future of SAW: Genesis alongside its growing community.
