Light, Camera, Action! Mark your calendars for October 24th, as fans of the Layers of Fear series are in for an exciting treat. At 1 AM PST a free update will be rolled out for current Layers of Fear owners. This expansion allows you to immerse yourself into the psyche of a famous movie director as you strive to complete your ultimate masterpiece, even as the set around you descends into chaos.
Layers of Fear is an award-winning series that has made a significant impact on narrative-driven, first-person psychological horror games. In June, it made a successful return as a new and definitive experience, completely rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. The anthology co-developed by Bloober Team and Anshar Studios ecompasses Layers of Fear and Layers of Fear 2, along with all DLCs, including 'The Final Note', which provides a fresh perspective on the Layers of Fear storyline. Additionally, it includes the previously untold story of 'The Writer,' seamlessly tying everything together.
This time around, the developers have decided to introduce a new chapter into the game, focusing on expanding the story from Layers of Fear 2. Fans familiar with the second installment may recall a plot where they controlled a Hollywood actor answering the call of an enigmatic director to star in his movie. In The Final Prologue, the roles are reversed, and this time it’s players who will get to sit in the director's seat. It will be up to them to direct the film's action and complete their horrifying masterpiece. This will be no easy task, however, as both inner demons and vile external forces conspire to derail the whole production.
Layers of Fear (2023) is published by Bloober Team and co-developed by Bloober Team and Anshar Studios. This latest chapter in the Layers of Fear anthology will be available on the 24th of October (1 AM Pacific Standard Time) as a FREE UPDATE for all current Layers of Fear owners. The Final Prologue will be playable as a separate chapter within the game’s menu.
