'The Medium' officially launches on Macs worldwide today

Running natively on every Mac with Apple silicon, The Medium delivers stunning graphics and incredible performance

The Bloober Team announced today, The Medium, is now available, running natively on every Mac with Apple silicon. The game is optimized to take full advantage of Apple silicon and Metal 3 features like MetalFX Upscaling — delivering smooth and responsive gameplay that plays out across two worlds displayed at the same time with high frame rates and breathtaking visuals. The release comes on the heels of the official premiere of Layers of Fear (2023) in June, one of the first high-profile Unreal Engine 5 games to come to Mac.

One of the most ambitious games from Poland-originating horror house is a third-person psychological horror game that features dual-reality gameplay that plays out across two separate worlds displayed at the same time. The game is set in the late ‘90s following Marianne, a psychic investigating the abandoned Hotel Niwa in search of answers about her past. The Medium allows players to explore the physical world and spirit worlds simultaneously and use the interactions between them to solve dual-reality puzzles, unlock new paths, and awaken memories of past events. The spirit world is a dark mirror reflection of our reality, and it has been modeled and designed under the inspiration of Polish dystopian surrealist, Zdzisław Beksiński’s paintings. The incredible visuals were enhanced by the original soundtrack co-composed by Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka.

The psychological horror game that launched in 2021 has since garnered glowing reviews and several industry awards, including the Best Game Award at Digital Dragons, as well as the Best Original Adventure award at the NAVGTR Awards.
